چکیده

Interactive Mixed Reality installations combine multimedia with novel multimodal interaction techniques. As an example of mixed reality environments the “Sensoric Garden” seven installations shown during a festival in Bremen are described. As this kind of event cannot be evaluated in terms of usability or effectiveness, we need other categories to assess the attractiveness or “joy of use” of installations. Categories from the discourse on interaction design and interactivity were found helpful for a design reflection into why some installations were an “interactive success” and others failed to meet expectations and received little visitor attention. GERICO: A HUMAN CENTRED ECO-DRIVING SYSTEM

This paper presents the evaluation of a new onboard system designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 production. GERICO system enables the driver to adopt the best driving behaviour, smooth speed and good gear management. We carried out 80 tests (40 baselines, 20 with training and 20 with GERICO) with 40 drivers in the Toulouse area. The main results show that training contributes to a 12% co...

In the Proceedings of the 6th IFAC/IFIP/IFORS/IEA Symposium on Analysis, Design and Evaluation of Man-Machine Systems, MIT, Boston, USA - July 27-29, 1995 SUPPORTABILITY-BASED DESIGN RATIONALE

How can we benefit from the support people experience in the design process, and how can we represent the design rationale (DR) in order for it to be useful to a variety of end-users? It is claimed that support people, including operations, maintenance and training agents, spend enormous amounts of time trying to understand DR in their jobs. This problem is very difficult to handle because it i...

Error assessment in man-machine systems using the CREAM method and human-in-the-loop fault tree analysis

Background and Objectives: Despite contribution to catastrophic accidents, human errors have been generally ignored in the design of human-machine (HM) systems and the determination of the level of automation (LOA). This paper aims to develop a method to estimate the level of automation in the early stage of the design phase considering both human and machine performance. Methods: A quantita...

The Correlation of Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics with Human Judgement on Persian Language

Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics (MTEMs) are the central core of Machine Translation (MT) engines as they are developed based on frequent evaluation. Although MTEMs are widespread today, their validity and quality for many languages is still under question. The aim of this research study was to examine the validity and assess the quality of MTEMs from Lexical Similarity set on machine tra...
